About the Position: This position is located at the DiLorenzo TRICARE Health Clinic, Civilian Employee Health Services (CEHS), located at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. The CEHS provides occupational health and preventative medicine services to federal civilian employees, contractors, and active duty personnel who occupy the Washington Headquarters Service facilities in the National Capital Region. Duties of this position will require the incumbent to walk extensively throughout the Pentagon.

As a Medical Officer, Physician (Occupational Medicine), successful candidate will manage the Occupational Health Program, by ensuring updated standard operating procedures, section policies, and oversight of section staff training. You will provide advice and consultation on the health of the command, installation, and/or total surrounding community. You will be responsible for the medical surveillance program. This includes performing pre-employment and annual civilian physicals, ensuring civilians are medically ready for travel such as immunizations, evaluating individuals with workplace/occupational injuries, and evaluating individuals exposed to toxic or hazardous materials. The successful candidate will analyze and compile disability, reasonable accommodation, and medical expert consultations for Human Resource and EEO, and will serve as the occupational medicine expert for Federal Employment Compensation Act (FECA) case consultation and determinations. You will also serve as the Public Health Emergency Officer (PHEO). This includes: completing training requirements for the PHEO; attending local and federal emergency preparedness meetings; maintaining situational awareness of public health threats; supporting preparedness for public health and medical surge capacity; collaborating with Pentagon Officials and the DTHC emergency management team in Public Health Emergency (PHE) Operations; communicating risks; providing advice to leadership regarding the declaration of a PHE; and responding to potential health exposures from chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear (CBRN) incidents, as well as bio-contamination incidents. The PHEO duties include completing and/or coordinating epidemiological investigations involving illness outbreaks or work-related illness/injuries; recommending appropriate action on diagnosis, treatment, and prophylaxis; coordinating emergency response efforts with federal and civilian authorities; and advising on public health aspects of workplace and return to work issues. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing supervisory duties, including approving time cards, approving leave, completing performance evaluations, etc.
