Plans, directs, and manages the receiving inspection certification processes of incoming material for the branch, which is in support of the agency wide National Airspaces System (NAS) program, F&E, and aircraft programs.
Manages the Inspection and Distribution Branch operations. Reconciles complex problems and negotiates changes affecting operational procedures. Responsible for a wide range of human resource management functions including the development/continuous review of position requirements and standards; evaluating employee performance; giving advice and counsel on technical and administrative matters; makes position selections; hearing complaints; initiating employee disciplinary actions; and identifying and providing for employee development/training needs.
Plans, coordinates, directs, implements, and evaluates the efforts of branch personnel involved in the inspection, certification, and inventory updates of incoming receipts, for routine receipt and certification processes as well as handling nonconforming receipts. These assets include operating (including administrative), project (facilities and equipment, international aid), aircraft, regional and special maintenance equipment, and services stock.
Assures that supply support requirements for all the agency's facilities are met on a continuing basis, including those in support of facility outages, natural disasters, and other priorities which impact the air traffic control system.
Directs the development and implementation of branch systems, criteria, procedures, methods, and plans to assure the accomplishment of branch functional responsibilities. Provides input to the short and long-range requirements to meet the requirements of the National Airspace System. Support program goals, objectives, and provide input to overall FAALC goals/objectives.
Assures operational procedures are evaluated and needed changes implemented, which will insure functional responsibilities, are being met, and improve operational effectiveness and efficiency. Makes changes in delegated authority and initiates improvements in collection of management data.
Assumes responsibility as property custodian of all branch property including various material handling equipment, warehouse automation equipment, and office equipment valued at several thousand dollars.
Incumbent may be identified as the AML-1000 designee to callback critical personnel to accomplish priority requirements. May be required to utilize communication devices to assure immediate notification.
Physical and Environmental Factors:
Functional Requirements: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 lbs. and over), moderate lifting (15-44 lbs.), light lifting (under 15 lbs.), moderate carrying (15-44 lbs.), light carrying (under 15 lbs.), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers and both hands required, walking and standing, kneeling, repeated bending, both legs required, near vision correctable at 13” to 16”, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, both eyes required, depth perception, and hearing (aid permitted).
Environmental Factors: Outside and inside, dust, grease and oils, electrical energy, slippery or uneven walking surfaces, working around machinery with moving parts, working around moving objects or vehicles, working alone.
