Position Description Title/PD#: Human Resources Assistant, GS203-6 (Target 7) or GS-7, PD #8055A
Incumbent performs HR assistant and general office and clerical support work. Receives and
screens applicants, employees, and patients, telephone calls and answers inquiries concerning
the employing organizations structure and functions or general questions concerning HR office
procedures. Answers inquiries regarding types of vacancies and vacancy announcements,
procedures for filing applications, receipt and disposition of applications, and general questions
concerning Federal Employment. Distributes Merit Promotion, Competitive, Status, OPM, and
DEU vacancy announcements to the appropriate departments or electronic mailing list. Reviews
security clearance paperwork for completion.
Physical Requirements:
While work is primarily sedentary, there is occasional stooping, standing and bending involved
and the carrying of recruitment folders, which may be thick and awkward. Walking throughout
the medical center is required to update recruitment bulletin boards.
Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6 level. For the GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5 level.To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience:
GS-6 Level:
Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-5) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
GS-7 Level: Applicants must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-6) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-6 or GS-7 grade level.
