Assists Director with requests for recruitment utilizing Army CYS Standard Position Descriptions. Supervises and evaluates employees based on established performance standards as required. Ensures timely submission of personnel actions. Provides training for employees as required.
Acts as Director in Director's absence up to 20% of the time. May work in additional CYS facilities for the purposes of providing management oversight for evening or weekend openings such as a Child Development Center Supervisory Program Specialist acting as the director of the Youth Center on a Saturday.
Prepares work schedules to meet ratio and group size requirements. Monitors and analyzes adult/participant ratio sheets to ensure proper staffing. Ensures children/youth are appropriately supervised at all times.
Tracks child enrollments/youth attendance to ensure maximum occupancy rate using prescribed staff/child head count sheets. Utilizes compensatory enrollment in all appropriate CYS programs based on CYMS enrollment data. Notifies supervisor of terminations from the program.
Works with trainer and supervisor to plan, coordinate and implement activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of children and youth.
Participates in conferences with parents, program staff, and school representatives.
Serves as a member of the CYS Services Garrison Rapid Improvement Team as needed to ensure assigned area is in compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements leading to DoD Certification and national accreditation.
Assists supervisor in developing program budget. Manages assigned program areas to budget. Recommends the procurement of supplies and equipment. Prepares work orders as necessary. Provides input for information papers and briefings upon request.
Conditions of Employment:

1. Successful completion of a 4-year college or university degree with a major course of study which directly relates to the appropriate CYS field consistent with:
- For positions in Child Development (CDC/SAS) Facilities: The education must have been in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as related behavioral science.
OR
2. A combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in a subject matter field (24 semester hours) appropriate to the position (see above), plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described above.
