Hill Air Force Base provides worldwide engineering and logistics management for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt II, and the Minuteman III ICBM. The base performs depot maintenance of the F-16, A-10 and C-130 Hercules aircraft. The base is located between Ogden and Salt Lake City. The area is known for year round activities include skiing, hiking, boating, extreme sports, fishing and hunting, with four distinct seasons, low humidity and moderate snow fall in the valley.
A list of eligible candidates is being established and may be used to fill multiple vacancies for a period of 12 months (or more). As an Archeologist, GS-0193-12, you will serve at one of the Installation Support Team (IST) locations, Environmental Center of Excellence (ECoE), of the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), a Field Operating Agency (FOA). You will also:
-Provide Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) support to cultural resources programs at one or more installations within the geographical area services by the Installation Support Team (IST) through contracts/services/product oversight and technical support.
-Provide consultation and advisory services in support of archeological administrative issues.
-Communicate critical issues to other members of the IST and Regional Support Team (RST) staff, serviced installations, and superiors.
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
2. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate driver's license may be required for the position.
3. The work requires the employee to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: INCUMBENT MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A SECRET LEVEL SECURITY CLEARANCE AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is sedentary except during visits to installations where there may be walking, standing, climbing and stooping during facility inspections or investigations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most work is performed in an office setting, with travel to field installations, meetings, technical conferences, and regulatory hearings. Installation visits may provide exposure to facilities with high noise levels, temperature extremes, and also to hazardous, toxic, or pathogenic materials.
