This position is assigned to the Group Practice Support Service Line with the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, Tucson, AZ. In this position the selectee will serve as the Manager for the Ambulatory Care Section. The duties of this position are but not limited to the following:
· Provide facility wide oversight of all administrative activities and services performed.
· Develop and implement innovative solutions to correct technical, complex problems.
· Interprets VA rules and regulations.
· Establish and maintain relationships with the general public, key officials, agency stakeholders, and/or community groups in order to communicate and disseminate program information.
· Communicate new initiatives/activities having a direct impact on regional problems.
· Respond, in oral and written format, to requests for information.
· Provide effective short term, long term planning and direction for the organization.
· Supervise staff a staff of employees to accomplish the work of the organizational unit.
· Participate in special projects or analytical studies.
· Prepare a variety of reports and correspondence.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary in nature. Typically, the employee may sit to do the work, however, there will be some lifting of medical records. Employee will be required to walk distances between units supervised.
Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11 level.

Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Creating
clinic grids, conducting scheduling training and oversight, providing expert
support and guidance for front line supervisors in a clinical setting, and,
managing multiple administrative staff to create a team-first atmosphere.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-12 level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).
