The Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center is actively recruiting for a Registered Nurse, Education Specialist, Acute Service. As a responsible member of the Acute Hospital Team the incumbent interacts with Veterans, family members, and an interdisciplinary team of professionals. He/she is responsible and accountable for the development and delivery of Patient Care Service staff development and education program. The incumbent is responsible for the orientation of new employees to the unit, evaluation of their progress in the orientation process, and for developing and implementing a learning plan for improving identified deficiencies. He/she is responsible for planning, administering and maintaining assigned unit clinical competencies for the staff members of the team. The population serviced includes nursing staff and support staff within the Medical Center. The incumbent will work collaboratively with leadership within the facility and it's affiliating CBOCs in the development and implementation of facility-wide educational programs and initiatives. He/she will actively participate in workshop/continuing education programs designed for career advancement as well as function in classroom teaching environments, clinical arenas, and as a group facilitator during traing and implantation of changes in nursing related applications. He/she is administratively responsible to the Nurse Manager and responsible for other team members, i.e. RN, LPN, NA. Performs other related duties as required by Nurse Manager.
Highly Desirable Preferred Education/Certification/Experience: Master's in Nursing with focus in Education; Experience in providing education to healthcare providers.
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:30am - 4:00pm with variable evening and shift coverage, if needed; 24 hour operation; Tour of duty is subject to change based on agency needs.
