Interns must work a minimum of 400 hours, part-time (minimum 24 hours per work) or full-time (40 hours per week) not to exceed a total of 640 hours.
The anticipated start date for these intern positions is January 2018. Interns may have an opportunity for a permanent position based on a successful intern experience (comprised of a minimum of 400 hours) and successful completion of degree requirements. The ability to convert to a permanent or term appointment with 400 hours of work experience is contingent upon budgetary conditions and staffing needs at the time of eligibility.

Field operations provides leadership, services, and assistance to GAO staff and mission teams in the field offices in a wide variety of areas, including facilities management; security; budget and procurement; emergency planning and safety; human capital functions; workforce relations; community building; training; recruiting; relations with audit forums; the Professional Development Program; internships; diversity and inclusiveness; business process improvements; and various agency-wide initiatives.
The intern will assist in the development of data collection approaches and instruments to measure performance of field operations, such as safety, security, and processing of business transactions.
