The West Haven facility is a tertiary care facility classified as a Clinical Referral Level I Facility. VA Connecticut Healthcare System is recruiting a Staff Psychiatrist to function as a Psychiatrist in the Willimantic Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The individual will be responsible for the management of patients who are treated in the CBOC; this means working closely with a team of primary care and other physicians, and with, psychologists and other members of a multidisciplinary team who provide mental health treatment at VA Connecticut Healthcare System. The psychiatrist has the opportunity to be involved in teaching psychiatry residents, medical students and other trainees if s/he is interested.
DUTIES
Provider of mental health services to Veterans in a primary care setting in the community based outpatient clinic
Working in a multidisciplinary team with psychologists, social workers, nursing staff and primary care practitioners.
Provides telehealth services to Veterans with mental health and substance use disorders
Provides both pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy to Veterans with mental health disorders
Provides evaluation, and treatment of Veterans with mental health disorders
Provides consultation to Primary Care staff about mental health issues in Veterans
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Typically the incumbent will sit to do the work. However, there is some walking, standing, walking up/down stairs, bending, carrying of light items.
