Behavioral Health Care Line at the New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS)
is seeking Registered Nurses (RN) to join our Mental Health Residential
Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (MHRRTP)!
The RN participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team
and applies knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures, patient
disease entities, ethics, interdisciplinary care plans, interpersonal and
teaching skills to patient care and daily operations of the residential
programs. The RN is accountable for adhering to established policies and
procedures and for demonstrating self-direction, experience, and creative
approaches to the management of complex patient care. The RN actively seeks out educational
opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge and shares the new knowledge gained
with other staff. The RN demonstrates self-direction in evaluating personal
strengths and weaknesses and identifies methods for self-development. Specific responsibilities include, but are
not limited to, direct patient care, assessment, planning and evaluations of
residents, use of medical equipment and medication management. The RN has contact with a variety of patients
and families/significant others for the purpose of providing nursing care,
encouragement, and fostering patient self-reliance and independence. The RN provides appropriate care for patients
generally ranging in age from 18 through geriatric years, taking into
consideration diagnosis, physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual
needs. The RN is directly responsible to
the Nurse Manager, MHRRTP.
