AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Current permanent SSA employees in the Baltimore/Washington, DC/Falls Church Headquarters (which includes the Second Support Center in Durham, NC), Office of Central Operations (OCO), Baltimore/ Wilkes-Barre Data Operations Center (WBDOC), Philadelphia (Region III), and employees filing under the SSA-4100 provision.
The SSA-4100 provision applies to employees whose permanent or temporary duty station is outside of the AOC stated above. Employees who currently have an Availability for Assignment form (SSA-4100) on file will not be automatically considered for this position. The incumbent performs a key role in very difficult assignments with responsibility and accountability as a technical authority and advisor in a special functional area covering a wide range of technology and applications (e.g., service oriented architecture; software governance and compliance; application portfolio management; enterprise software engineering tools management; enterprise architecture and data administration; database systems; electronic document management systems; software engineering infrastructure; systems engineering; systems security (including HSPD-12) and assurance; configuration management; validation technology; systems process improvement; quality assurance, etc.). Major constraints to the work are typically imposed by the state-of-the-art computer technology and by the need for significant departures from established practice. Work significantly affects the work of other computer experts throughout the agency and often in other agencies.
