BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Option A: You must have a degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position such as child development, early childhood education, elementary education, special education or other related fields appropriate to this position. (NOTE: You must submit copies of your college transcripts if choosing this response).
*OR*
Option B: You have a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A' above. (NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts if choosing this response).
**PLUS**
Meet ONE of the FOUR options of the MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT:
Option A: You have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the federal service that involved teaching young children in a preschool, early elementary school, church school, or day care center. This specialized experience should demonstrate the following: (1) Skill in developing curricula which covers physical, emotional, social and cognitive development; and (2) Ability to handle emergency type situations common in dealing with small children; and (3) Possess professional knowledge of principles, theories, concepts and practices of childhood development encompassing school-age youth.
Option B: You have completed 1 full year of graduate level education that provided you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of a GS-07 Supv School Age Program Coordinator. (NOTE: You must submit copies of your college transcripts if choosing this response).
Option C: You have a combination of education and experience to qualify for this position. First determine your total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level stated in B' above; then determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level stated in A' above; finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level. (NOTE: You must submit copies of your college transcripts if choosing this response).
Option D: You have Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level under one of these provisions: (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. You may be claiming this if you are in the (1) upper third of your graduating class based on completed courses; OR if your (2) Grade Point Average is 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; or 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum; OR if (3) you were elected to membership in a national scholastic honor society (as stated on the Association of College Honor Societies website)
