GENERAL DUTY DESCRIPTION: The Neurosurgery Surgery Section staff physician provides comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the neurosurgery surgery scope. The scope of these activities covers hospitalized patients and all phases of ambulatory care. Other responsibilities may include education of medical students and residents.
Administrative Duties include, but are not limited to, Leadership responsibilities; HR; Staff Management; Time/Leave Management and Clinical Management.
Clinical Duties include, but are not limited to, Patient Care; Medical/Clinical Knowledge; Clinical Judgment; Interpersonal& Communication Skills; Professionalism and System-Based Practice.
Education/Teaching Duties: Practitioners are expected to show effectiveness in teaching, monitoring, and coordinating educational activities, and comply with necessary trainee supervision requirements.
Research Duties,(if applicable): Physician researchers will show an ability to identify and define significant Research and Development problems, to plan and execute a precise research program, and to generate effective reports and results worthy of publication. Researchers are responsible for oversight of any research staff that they supervise.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
A pre-placement physical examination will be completed prior to appointment to determine the physical and mental fitness of the selected applicant. Physical requirements include, but not limited to: Light lifting (under 15 pounds), light carrying under 15 pounds, use of fingers, both hands required, walking (2 hours), standing (2 hours), ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" Jaeger 1 to 4, specific visual requirement DVA 20/40 Binoc, both eyes required, depth perception, ability to distinguish basic colors, hearing (aid permitted).
