VA Eastern Colorado HealthCare System (ECHCS) is complexity level 1a and provides a full range of state-of- the-art patient care services. ECHCS

Typical daily nursing assistant activities for the Gynecology Clinic include, but are not limited to:
· Chaperone: A chaperone is a person who serves as a witness for both a patient and medical practitioner as a safeguard for both parties
during a medical examination or procedure.
· Assist in inventory supply management by monitoring supply closet levels for disposable medical equipment and medications, as well
as coordinating with sterile processing to ensure availability of reusable medical equipment (RME) for each clinic day. Ensure RME is
properly prepared for decontamination and sterilization according to SPS guidelines and placed in dirty utility for SPS collection at the
end of the day.
· Assist in accountability of clinic RME.
· Assist in patient flow of the clinic by opening all available rooms at the beginning of each day, ensuring rooms are adequately stocked
for patient appointments and properly closing each room at the end of the day. Ensure procedure room supply carts are adequately
stocked.
· Monitor patient check-in using VetLink to assist clinic in managing timeliness. Confirm patient identity with 2 forms of identification,
record patient vital signs in CPRS, escort patients to room upon availability, and notify provider that patient is ready to be seen.
· Assist in daily inspections of COR cart, glucometer, temperature/humidity log, and eye wash station.
· Review patient schedule with RN for any special notes, clinic needs, or information. Care for patients with communicable diseases for
which standard precautions are required.
· Assist providers in the collection of cytology, biopsies or any additional lab required. Collect and deliver all specimens to lab according
to the time sensitivity of the specimen.
· Monitor patients' health throughout the clinic, providing special oversight to post-procedural patients.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00a - 3:30p

Physical Requirements: The position involves considerable standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, pushing, lifting, turning, and
repositioning patients. The position requires escorting patients to and from treatment rooms and intermittently assisting patients into and out
of treatment tables. It may also require transport of wheelchair bound patients to and from treatment rooms or other departments.
