About the Position: AMSAA's primary mission is to provide responsive systems analysis to support the equipping and sustaining of weapons and materiel for our Soldiers in the filed as well as our Future Army Forces. AMSAA is all about military systems analysis to provide decision making support to aid the warfighter.
The US Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity (AMSAA) is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the DoD Civilian Acquisition Workforce Demonstration Project. This position will be covered under an alternative personnel system known as the DoD Civilian Acquisition Workforce Demonstration Project. The Demonstration Project replaces GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands. The salary range of the position being filled will not be decreased with the change to pay bands.
The salary range of the position being filled will not be decreased with the changed to pay band. This position incorporates former GS-08 step 1 through GS-10 step 10 grade levels and salary levels. In keeping with Demonstration pay fixing policies, employees already in this band will not receive a pay increase if appointed to this position. Pay increases within the pay band will be accomplished through the Contribution-Based Compensation and Appraisal System.
AMSAA uses salary control points within the salary range to allow for differentiation in the level of positions within the same broadband. Therefore, the salary for this position will be set no higher than $64,699.00.
Employees hired under the modified term appointment authority are in a temporary status but may be eligible for conversion to career-conditional appointments. To be converted, the employee must (1) have been selected for the term position under competitive procedures, with the announcement specifically stating that the individual(s) selected for the term positions(s) may be eligible for conversion to career-conditional appointment at a later date; (2) have served two years of continuous service in the term position; and (3) be selected under merit promotion procedures for the permanent position.
This is a modified TERM position not to exceed 1 year + 1 day; may be extended in yearly increments up to a maximum of 5 years with an additional one-year locally-approved extension. Contingent to specific conditions there may be an opportunity to be noncompetitively converted to a career-conditional or career appointment.

You will serve as a Secretary, providing assistance to the Branch Chief in the Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity (AMSAA) through the application of a full knowledge of the mission, the organizational segments and their responsibilities, plus a close working knowledge of the Branch, Division, and organization policies and views on current issues, operating methods, and needs relative to information, problems and contacts as encountered.
Duties include composing and reviewing outgoing correspondence for editorial and procedural accuracy; receiving and screening visitors and telephone calls, ensuring proper protocol for receiving high-level officials is adhered to; maintaining the Branch Chief's calendar; scheduling meetings and appointments; making travel arrangements and performing timekeeping duties; serving as liaison between Security and branch regarding clearance/access matters; using office automation systems such as Microsoft office to prepare a variety of narrative material from rough draft with responsibility for format, spelling, punctuation, etc. You will adhere to established policies and procedures to oversee administrative and office operations and respond to issues and inquiries.
