The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the implementation of projects for the International Technical Assistance Program (ITAP) and will work in close collaboration with governmental and non-govenmental partners to provide technical assistance and training on natural and cultural resource conservation worldwide.

This is a Temporary Student Appointment Not To Exceed 2 years positio and is part-time or full-time depending upon the availiability of the student.
The Office of the Secretary has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

At the full performance level (GS-07) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Supports the development and implementation of various ITAP technical Assistance projects in assigned global geographic areas. May help develop technical assistance work plans; monitor expenditures, develop recruitment notices, review applicant resumes and help draft Memoranda of Understanding, budget annexes and technical mission reports.
2. Helps develop outreach and marketing materials including updating websites and brochures.
3 .Helps develop briefing materials for ITAP technical assistance projects.
4. Set up and coordinate logistics for outreach events, attends meetings, conferences and assist with the powerpoint presentations.
5. Assists Project Managers with providing pre-deployment briefings for ITAP travelers and researches, analyzes and resolves issues relative to preparing teams for overseas technical assistance operations.
This is an opportunity under the Internship Program component of the Pathways Program. The Internship Program provides students enrolled in qualifying educational institutions with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while concurrently being enrolled. Veteran's Preference is applicable under the Pathways Program.

The internship program allows for the agency to non-competitively convert an Intern who is a U.S. citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service once the Intern completes all requirements of the Internship Program (Please Note: Conversion is at the discretion of the agency). To be eligible for conversion, the Intern must have: 1) Completed at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program, except as provided in paragraphs (c) and (d) of 5 CFR 362.204 (Conversion to the competitive service) while enrolled as a full-time or part-time degree- or certificate-seeking student; 2) Completed a course of academic study, within the 120-day period preceding the appointment, at a qualifying educational instititution conferring a diploma, certificate, or degree; 3) Received a favorable recommendation for appointment by an official of the agency or agencies in which the Intern served; (4) Met the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted; and 5) Met agency-specific requirements as specified in the agency's Participant Agreement with the Intern.
