About the Position:
Position is located in the Directorate of Risk Management, Law Enforcement Division, at Sierra Army Depot. With the exception of Fire & Police, employees work a 4/10 work week. Police and Fire may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays and in other situations. Shifts are as follows; Day shift: Monday through Thursday or Thursday through Sunday 0530-1800, Night shift: Monday through Thursday or Thursday through Sunday, 1530-0600. All shifts are 4 shifts per week 12.5 hours per shift. Shifts rotate every 4 months. Sierra Army Depot is located in the rural northeast California town of Herlong, approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV; and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. The depot has an Army Commanding Officer with a civilian work force of approximately 1350 employees. Child care facilities are available. Exchange/Commissary facilities are NOT available but an AAFES is available. Carpools and mass transportation is available from Reno/Susanville at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts world class fishing, hunting, snow skiing; full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Serves as a police supervisor with responsibility for planning, directing, and reviewing the activities of police officers engaged in the enforcement of laws and protection of government property, materials, and processes. Additionally, performs security and law enforcement work in the protection of life, property, and the civil rights of citizens by maintaining law and order where the Government has jurisdiction. Through subordinate leaders, ensures that police execute their duties in security and law enforcement work in the protection of life, property, and the civil rights of citizens at Sierra Army Depot IAW applicable regulations, directives, and internal SOPs. Provides assistance and input into overall planning needed to meet security and law enforcement requirements.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes responding to various calls for law enforcement services at all levels (felony and misdemeanor), to include crimes in progress, citizen complaints, and emergency situations. Assisting and guiding the activities of subordinates engaged in law enforcement work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
