INTRODUCTION
This position is located in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Fllet and Family Readiness Program, Fleet Readiness Department in the Fitness/Sports and Deployed suupport Department. The purpose of this position is to assist in all aspects of fitness sports and administrative duties of the programs as needed.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the planning and implementing various programs designed to meet the fitness, sports or aquatic needs an interest of the fitness facilities and familiarize patrons with operating hours and advice on rules, regulation, and acceptable behavior and attitues required when participating in fitness, sports, aquatic activities or any other activity in the facilities.
Sets up and monitors classes, demonstrations, training and special events for the fitness facilities. Advises facility users to ensure the equipment is being used in a safe and effective manner. May demonstrate proper use of equipment and execution of exercises or techniques.
May assist with all aspects of the fitness programs. May provide basic fitness orientation, identify and correct unsafe fitness techniques, supervise intramural sports sporting events, clean and maintani facility and equipment and perform administrative duties as needed.
Assist in scheduling, coordinating, pormoting and controlling fitness activites for the program or activities involved in the facilities.
Conducts daily inspections of the fitness facilities to identify sanitation or maintenance problems. Makes minor repairs and cleans facilities as required. Performs routine cleaning, lubrication and preventative maintenance on all fitness equipment, identifies potential repair items, returns weights to racks, picks up towels, replaces poins, and performs similiar tasks.
Coordinates to ensure towels are available, cleanliness of facility is adequate and required supplies are available.
Provides input for budget preparation of facilities needs and initiates action through the supervisor for service orders or purchase requests.
Checks ID cards, updates bulletin boards, monitors training schedules, and ensures security of the facilities at all times.
Reports all problems and specific situations to the supervisor for resolution.
Performs other related duties as assigned

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The position is a non-sensitive position that does not operate a government computer so employment is conditional on the successful completion of a National Agency Check, SF85.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Certified Instructor/Trainer Certificate for fitness and must be able to obtain and maintain a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certificate.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
