The Registered Nurse selected as the Innovation Specialist is responsible for leading, coordinating, facilitating and providing ongoing support to Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) in the design and implementation of innovation initiatives in support of the Innovators Network. The Innovators Network developed by employees for Veterans, is a safe space for VA employees to test new ideas, and join forces with stakeholders across the Veteran community to improve the way VA serves Veterans. It empowers employees to see and solve problems, rapidly respond to Veterans and family member needs, and support the growth of their careers in the process. The Innovation Specialist must possess a basic understanding of clinical treatment modalities, organization and administration of the VA healthcare delivery systems, educational principles, clinical information systems, accreditation and regulatory standards, and program development. This position reports to the Associate Director of Patient Care Services and works closely with the VA Center of Innovation. The position works with leadership and staff to build a culture of innovation to empower employees in action through training of innovation-related competencies. The position is essential to ensure the appropriate investment in innovation and is an integral part of the VAMC leadership team, working across the VAMCs and with National program and staff offices to promote innovation. The position is responsible for implementing and contributing to the design and execution of the innovation strategies, contributing to the Innovators Network objectives by identifying promising methods and tools for delivering innovation, designing and testing various approaches and methodologies to determine what works to achieve innovation objectives, and institutionalizing best practices throughout the organization through training, technical assistance, knowledge sharing and access to resources. The Registered Nurse selected as the Innovational Specialist must demonstrate a solid foundation in nursing practice using the nursing process; accept responsibility and maintains accountability for actions and continued professional growth; demonstrates the ability to communicate and work effectively with others; demonstrates the ability to provide excellent customer service; demonstrates the ability to provide leadership for all levels of staff and demonstrates the ability to establish professional relationships with specialty and/or health related groups within the community. This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as this is a 24/7 organization.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with an Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma.
Preferred Experience:
Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) is strongly preferred.
Board certification from a VA approved certifying body.
Two (2) years of recent professional (RN) nursing experience is strongly preferred.
