This is a GG-13 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-13 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Senior" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-13 level. This is a TEMPORARY position NTE 5/31/2018. This position may be extended without further competition.
Major Duties:
- Performs analysis of intelligence systems to ensure security controls adequately protect the confidentiality, integrity, availability of the information being processed.
- Evaluates the application of emerging technologies supporting intelligence and information operations, ensuring compatibility and interoperability with other AFISRA, Air Force, and DoD systems.
- Develops policy, guidance, and required plans for the introduction of new information technology standards, hardware, and software in the AFISRA enterprise.
- Participates in unit infrastructure assessments.
- Visits industry, government, and other AFISRA organizations, and represents the agency's CIO integration programs at symposiums and workshops attended by senior technical and integration specialists to keep abreast of current integration technologies, security methodologies, best practices and methods.
- Develops and prepares general technical correspondence, special project papers, and briefings on all assigned issues as required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS. This position is in the Excepted Service.
DoD Components with DCIPS positions apply Veterans' Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 USC, in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Position is designated critical-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
2. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security and public safety.
3. Position requires both short and extended periods of TDY within and outside the CONUS. Requires frequent travel by all modes of military and commercial transportation, occasionally on very short notice.
4. Information Assurance certification is a condition of employment. This position includes cybersecurity work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.0 1-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper certification may result in removal from this position.
