This position is located with the Deputy Commander for Clinical Services, Preventative Medicine, Industrial Hygiene #1, located in Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Fort Campbell, KY. Blanchfield Army Community Hospital occupies more than 494,000 square feet within the hospital and an additional 274,000 square feet of medical facilities outside the main hospital. The medical services employ a workforce of approximately 1,480 military and civilian workers. BACH strives to provide world class customer services and support to soldiers, retirees, and their families. Fort Campbell is the home of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), located on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY and Clarksville, TN. The area provides inexpensive country living with the benefits of a major metropolitan area less than an hour away. The home of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Grand Ole Opry, and the NFL Tennessee Titans-Nashville, TN. Basic Requirement:
Degree: Industrial hygiene; or a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable.
OR
Combination of Experience and Education: at least 12 semester hours of course work in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours as specified in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
AND
Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience conducting industrial hygiene surveys to ensure compliance with agency regulations; recommending and eliminating hazardous working conditions; using a variety of measuring devices to take samples; and preparing reports of survey findings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-09.Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
