Maintains surveillance throughout designated activities, observing customers and employees, in an effort to prevent and detect dishonest acts.
Reports incidents and contacts a higher graded employee to detain anyone suspected of a dishonest act. May monitor security cameras. Prepares reports to describe and record information on security incidents. Gathers facts and evidence for incidents, and reports information to a higher-graded employee. Studies inventory losses and conducts inquiries as required, in high shortage areas. Reviews merchandise periodically to ensure proper pricing. Reports operational problems with internal and external security.
May check ID cards to determine unauthorized patron entry, and reports of theft or vandalism against MCCS facilities. Reviews closing cash register report.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. May perform work that poses physical demands beyond normal requirements.
EVALUATIONS:
May require ANACI security clearance to perform work in the Department of the Navy’s Asset Protection Information System (APIS) with access to non-critical sensitive information. Six months of experience preferred in applying security techniques and methods to surveillance of customers and employees suspected of dishonest acts. Skill to monitor surveillance cameras. Skill to gather facts and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
