About the Position:
At
the GS-07 Level, the incumbent will work under close supervision and will
perform in a developmental capacity completing assignments and training designed
to prepare the incumbent for full performance GS-09. If filled at the
developmental level GS-07, upon completion of the Office of Personnel
Management Time-In-Grade Requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the
next higher level duties, the incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to
the full performance level GS-09.
This position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Recommends major changes to COR, this includes making sure any additions or deletions are processed into surveillance database to maintain an accurate and reliable system.
Establishes policies and procedures to ensure adequate monitoring, record keeping and operational control of medical waste disposal is accomplished to meet local, installation, state and federal regulations.
Maintains standards and requirements by making continuing inspections, and an aggressive program to test and perfect hospital housekeeping techniques, procedures, products, and through the use of bacteriological monitoring program.

Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience which includes two or more of the following areas, or other work related to the position to be filled: practical working knowledge of the basic principles of chemistry, biology, and bacteriology as applied to environmental sanitation, infection control, and to the choice and use of antimicrobial agents in the disinfection, sanitization, and/or sterilization of surfaces and equipment, OR Experience in laundry and linen management, OR Experience in interior design management, OR Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of waste management, including the requirements relating to hazardous, toxic, and infectious wastes and provisions for their final disposition, OR Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of pest management, including alternative methods of control and the selection and application of chemicals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-05 grade (or equivalent).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below: Bachelor's degree (with major study in chemistry or biological sciences, sanitary science or administration, institutional sanitation or administration, hospital administration, hotel administration, public administration, business administration, or other related fields) and superior academic achievement. Superior Academic Achievement is defined 1) a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher for all completed undergraduate coursework or for all courses completed in the last two full years of undergraduate work; 2) a GPA of 3.5 or higher for all courses in the major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two full years of undergraduate work; 3) ranking in the upper one third of your college, university, or major subdivision; or 4) membership in a national honor society other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. OR one full year of graduate level study, or I possess a master's or higher degree, e.g., Ph.D., etc., with major study in public health or business administration with emphasis in hospital administration. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full time study requirement. OR
One year of formalized hospital administrative residency or internship in hospital administration or hospital housekeeping management is equivalent to 1 year of GS-5 level specialized experience. Then divide your graduate semester hours by 36. Add the two percentages. The total must equal at least 100% to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
