The individual selected for this position will be responsible for the overall management of the Palliative Care Unit within the Ambulatory Care Section of Nursing Service at the Little Rock campus with 24/7 accountability for the operations of the unit. Strong leadership, managerial skills, communication and collaborative skills are critical for this role. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: (a) participation in design, support and maintenance of assigned unit; (b) direction of performance measures, regulatory compliance and quality improvement activities; (c) evaluation of staff performance; (d) initiation and facilitation of collaboration among disciplines; (e) collaboration in developing, implementing and maintaining Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System and Nursing Service policies, mission, goals and resources; (f) facilitation of staff development; and (g) planning and implementation of strategic plans, budget, staffing, programmatic changes and Unit specific projects. The successful candidate will utilize professional communication skills to accomplish the above and coordinate changes according to complex patient care needs.
Work Schedule: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with occasional rotation.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Minimum of a Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing
Preferred Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is strongly preferred
Evidence of two (2) years of recent professional (RN) nursing experience with progressive nursing/administrative responsibility is strongly preferred
Board certification from a VA approved certifying body
Previous management experience
