The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) functions relatively independently as guided by approved clinical protocols, and privileges, functioning within the scope of practice for a licensed ARNP or PA. This incumbent works for the Emergency Department at the Bruce W. Medical Center, Miami, Florida executes position responsibilities that demonstrate experience, and creative approached to management of a highly complex patient care. The ARNP or PA will be responsible for the following duties as well as other duties assigned within the scope of the position:
Assessment and identification of emergent versus urgent conditions, (specifically in regards to abdominal pain, chest pain and respiratory distress) and "handing off" of emergent cases to ED attending in timely manner. Assessment and management of the following conditions:
Physical Requirements: Heavy Lifting (Up to 30 lbs); Heavy Carrying (Up to 30 lbs); Straight Pulling (Up to 30 lbs); Pushing (Up to 30 lbs); Walking (Up to 8 hours); Standing (Up to 8 hours); Repeated bending (Up to 8 hours); Near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; Hearing (aid permitted).

Nurse Practitioners. A nurse practitioner must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State, possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE, and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. The certification must be in the specialty to which the individual is being appointed or selected.
Advanced Practice Nurse - Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and step of the applicant selected.
