The James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital is seeking a full-time Clinical Nurse Leader ? (CNL) that will be assigned to the Nursing Mental Health Units. He/she is expected to (1) apply all aspects of the nursing process and care management principles within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting; (2) demonstrate leadership in improving patient care and help to enhance staff education and professional development using evidence-based practice, (3) act as a resource to staff implementing the Hospital Policies, Nursing Service Procedures, and Nursing Service memorandums at the unit level, and (4) systematically evaluate current practice, and formulating outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within an area of expertise.
The Clinical Nurse Leader functions as a generalist with advanced knowledge and skills to provide clinical coordination and oversight for the complex patient population within the Nursing Mental Health services, including care transition, quality improvement, patient safety, and nursing practice standards. The practice of the CNL is expected to impact patient outcomes for the Nursing Mental Health areas and for the facility at large with the emphasis on patient flow, length of stay, readmission rates and patient satisfaction.
The applicant must be certified as a Clinical Nurse Leader.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital.

Physical Requirements: This is a very active position requiring dexterity. Work might require heavy lifting, carrying (45 pounds and over), reaching above shoulder, walking, standing, bending, kneeling.
