AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Current permanent SSA employees in the Baltimore/Washington, DC/Falls Church Headquarters, Office of Central Operations (OCO) Baltimore/ Wilkes-Barre Data Operations Center (WBDOC), Philadelphia (Region III), including employees in the SSC and RTC buildings in Durham, NC and employees filing under the SSA-4100 provision.
The SSA-4100 provision applies to employees whose permanent or temporary duty station is outside of the area of consideration as stated above.

The incumbent is the recognized technical authority on the applied implementation and operational utilization of production systems control software, related processes and procedures on all three DCOPC operational shifts. The incumbent is the technical expert on the data requirements for the successful acceptance and operational definition of production workloads to the automated control systems maintained by the Division. This requires a broad background in: Automated Data Processing hardware and software capabilities as well as their specific implementations at SSA; production applications design/development and the critical interfaces to production control operations systems and, the ability to analyze and justify production control operations acceptance positions on materials submitted by the programming community.
Serves as the production control operations expert on project teams that include computer systems analysts, computer specialists, computer systems programmers, and frequently, lower-level programmers, analysts and computer assistants. Plans and conducts analyses that result in production systems control requirements for software, procedures, and standards.
Identifies problems and issues in the multi-platform and online/batch operations arena. Quantifies and justifies interrelationships and impact on performance and deliverables. Recommends/proposes alternatives for system configuration, job redesign, and scheduling changes to meet objectives.
As a senior specialist, responds to the requirements of the operations components of the Division on any of the three shifts, (i.e., implementation of new software systems, new workloads, software problems, etc.).
Interfaces with software components within OTSO and applications development areas throughout SSA and provides expert software design input from scheduling and operations analysis perspective.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of the systems hardware and software enhancements, initiates and participates in actions to utilize new tools and techniques which improve operations performances, and standards adherence.

LOCALITY PAY: Salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. Candidates currently receiving a higher locality pay than the office applied for are advised that should they be selected, they will lose entitlement to the higher locality pay.
