- Design and development of highly tailored outer garments or specialized occupational clothing such as aviators' and paratroopers' clothing, submarine escape suits, coveralls, field jackets, helmets, footgear, or other clothing for a particular functional or occupational purpose.
- Demonstrated knowledge of layout and fabrication methods
- Developing a wide variety of sizes and types of patterns.
- Designing and constructing quality levels of clothing for use in quantity production.
- Experience with CAD building and altering custom patterns.
- Design and development of highly tailored outer garments or specialized occupational clothing such as aviators' and paratroopers' clothing, submarine escape suits, coveralls, field jackets, helmets, footgear, or other clothing for a particular functional or occupational purpose.
- Demonstrated knowledge of layout and fabrication methods.
- Building CAD files in automated alteration programs.
- Determining complete pattern requirements (includes pattern making and grading).
- Developing modifications of master patterns for a variety of tailored and utility clothing items.
GS-07:GS-09:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution with major study in textile technology, tailoring, clothing design, clothing production, anthropometry, anatomy, or physiology or another field related to the position AND meet Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) based on ONE of the following: (1) class standing (upper third standing in graduating class); -OR- (2) grade-point average (2.95 or higher overall or over the last two years of bachelor's degree or- 3.45 in my major field or over the last two years in my major); -OR-(3) election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. - At least one full year of graduate level study or higher, with major study in textile technology, tailoring, clothing design, clothing production, anthropometry, anatomy, or physiology or another field related to the position
