BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
A full four year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines to the position.

A combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major field of study or specific course requirements in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Specialized experience is that which is directly related to the position and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position.
GS-11: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants must have possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal Service, to include laboratory experience relating to infectious diseases, conducting biological scientific surveys/studies; performing and interpreting
specialized tests and stains utilizing tissue culture systems for the detection
and identification of pathogenic microorganisms.
GS-12: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants must have year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, to include laboratory experience relating to infectious diseases, conducting biological scientific surveys/studies; performing and interpreting
specialized tests and stains utilizing tissue culture systems for the detection
and identification of pathogenic microorganisms and preparing analyses and
reports of findings for tests and studies.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
For the GS-11 level: 3 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines to the position.
A year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours which the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information is not available, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the one year of full-time study requirement.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An appropriate combination of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the total qualification requirements.
