The Nurse Manager is a registered nurse who is accountable to the Rural and Communities Manager. In collaboration with the Manager, functions as a supervisor and assumes accountability for the operation of a designated unit. This includes the management, supervision and evaluation of care delivered by nursing and other allied health care staff. As a registered nurse, the Nurse Manager is also responsible for contributing to the establishment and implementation of evidenced-based nursing standards of practice. In collaboration with the Nurse Manger, creates a positive work environment which enhances care delivery and professional development of clinically competent staff. Promotes, creates, demonstrates and ensures a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of all individuals are respected. Ability to drive a vehicle for up to 250 miles a day as travel is required throughout the Battle Creek VAMC and the outlying Community Based Outpatient Clinic's (CBOC) to complete supervision of staff and to meet with Veterans in their homes is required. Government vehicle available. A valid unrestricted state drivers license is required.
Work Schedule: Tour may be 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. However, based on the needs of the organization you may need to work unscheduled hours or extended hours to meet the needs of the Veterans, the Medical Center, and the Health Care Center.

Physical Requirements: Registered Nurse Functional Requirements: Heavy Lifting 50 lbs and over (intermittently); Carrying up to 45 lbs (intermittently); Repeated bending; Straight Pulling up to 45 lbs (intermittently); Straight Pushing up to 45 lbs (intermittently); Stooping (intermittently); Squatting (intermittently); Kneeling (occasionally); Use of both arms; Use of both hands; Use of fingers; Overhead work, both arms (intermittently); Prolonged walking (up to 4 hours/day); Prolonged standing (up to 4 hours/day); Sitting (up to 2 hours/day); Far Vision - correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other; Near Vision - correctable to read newsprint at 13-16 inches; Ability to distinguish shades of colors; Hearing - ability to hear and understand the spoken voice from a distance of 8 feet. Preferred Experience: Registered Nurse with a MSN or BSN, at least 1 year of previous management experience, as well as Home Based Primary Care and/or PACT experience.
