As a Supervisory Interdisciplinary General Engineer or Operations Research Analyst you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Serves as a supervisor over professional and support personnel responsible for providing analytical, scientific, and engineering expertise. Position directly supports the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) acquisition program by performing systems planning, research, development, and other engineering/analysis tasks under the direction and guidance of the engineering Functional Manager and Functional Leads.
- Identifies and resolves highly complex problems that cross organizational boundaries and promulgates solutions. Leads and establishes requirements for current and new BMDS system or component; reviews and evaluates government and industry proposals for fulfillment of established requirements and develops concepts of new systems and technologies, recommending and employing operations research methods to obtain maximum potential of the current and future BMDS for the agency. Researches and investigates extremely complex problems to plan and execute the multi-faceted, difficult, and broad scope one-time, one-of-a-kind BMD studies, analyses, and assessments.
- Conceives plans, directs, integrates, evaluates, and implements technical and mathematical studies, analyses, and assessments of current and proposed analytic modeling, simulation, and war gaming of the battlefield BMD systems and technologies involving diverse capabilities: sensors, shooters, and command and control. Identifies shortcomings of existing analytical or technical approaches and develops quickly and accurately new mathematical and technical tools or modifies existing tools to address any shortcomings of BMD systems and technologies, high-level BMD architectures, and force employment capabilities.
- Applies engineering or scientific knowledge directed toward evaluation and analysis of the technical capability, survivability, lethality, vulnerability, etc., of the equipment and human component of both existing and conceptual systems and subsystems under all environments and threats in a systematic manner. Correlates, analyzes, evaluates, and applies data and information from multiple sources (system design, military operations, intelligence, technology, etc.) to conduct BMDS operational and alternative analysis, architecture analysis, technology prioritization, technology and program evaluation, and program assessment.
- Advises on technical, acquisition and operational issues related to technical performance requirements, systems engineering, financial management and performance trades among special program elements.
- Assigns work and provide technical oversight to subordinates, including developing performance plans, arranging needed training, evaluating work performance and providing ratings of record.
- Performs supervisory duties including interviewing, hiring, recommending reassignments and promotions and taking disciplinary action if necessary.
- Prepares and delivers presentations.
