The Michael E. DeBakey VAMC (MEDVAMC) located in Houston, TX, is one of the most complex quaternary facilities in the Veterans Health Administration. The MEDVAMC is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible physician in the subspecialties of Radiology, Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, or Pathology & Laboratory to serve as its Diagnostic & Therapeutic Care Line (DTCL) Executive. This position serves as part of the Executive Team and reports directly to the Chief of Staff. The MEDVAMC is majorly affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine and is located in the heart of the world-renown Texas Medical Center.
The DTCL Executive serves as a key member of the Medical Center's top management staff, actively participating in the development of overall management objectives and philosophies necessary for the attainment of optimum efficiency in providing health care to the Veteran population in the DTCL. The incumbent directs all clinical and administrative activities of the DTCL including the departments of Radiology, Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology & Laboratory, and all levels of Executive Administration such as budget and fiscal management, human resources management, strategic planning, and program management and evaluation.

Physical Requirements: Light Lifting (15lbs and under); Light Carrying (15lbs and under), use of fingers and both hands required; walking (up to 3 hours); standing (up to 3 hours); ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; Hearing (aid permitted); mental and emotional stability.
