The Advanced Practice Nurse Primary Care-Float has responsibility for providing Primary Care (PC) to patients at one or more PC Clinics. Incumbent will not have a regularly assigned patient panel, but can assume responsibility for a defined panel of patients during periods of absence for Staff Physician/NP/PA vacancy at the clinic as defined by management. He/she may be required to travel to various clinic locations to provide clinical coverage in the absence of a provider and may also be required to staff a walk-in, group, or Employee Health clinic during hours specified by management. The NP performs the following duties:

Physical Requirements: The work is mainly sedentary. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending for periods of time. The work requires working under stressful conditions in a fast-pace setting to facilitate patient care.
Work Environment: Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts of a medical center/hospital environment that require normal safety precautions typical of places such as offices, meeting, examination, and training rooms, or libraries. The workspace is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6)
Note: The NP must maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted license/certification to continue employment with VA. A certificate of fitness for prescribing medications is required.
