The incumbent serves as the SSA IT Security Program Supervisor under the administrative supervision of the Chief Information Security Officer in the Office of the Chief Information Officer. Is a primary interface and point of contact for external Departments, Agencies, and other organizations and for IT security policy for the Agency. The incumbent is recognized as an expert, and as such works to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, standards, procedures, plans, handbooks, and guidelines.
The incumbent is responsible for oversight of multiple aspects of the SSA IT Security Program including monitoring IT Security related training, reviews and studies as appropriate, providing management with ongoing assurance of the effectiveness of the management, technical and operational controls in SSA IT systems. The focus of the Information program is to assure the security of SSA's general support systems and applications. In addition to requirements set forth in NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-53 and SP 800-53a, IT Security policy, standards, procedures, guidelines and handbook methodologies include: IT Security Risk Assessments, IT Security Management Control Reviews, Technical Vulnerability Assessments, Penetration Tests, Independent Verification and Validations, to assure continuing accreditation of SSA IT systems. The work is independent from, but conducted in coordination with, SSA system owners, the National Computer Center, Enterprise systems, network managers and administrators, technology engineers and application leads.

LOCALITY PAY: Salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. Candidates currently receiving a higher locality pay than the office applied for are advised that should they be selected, they will lose entitlement to the higher locality pay.
OTHER NOTES:
This position is temporary not-to-exceed 1 year. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended or become permanent.
Selected employee is subject to the completion of a 1-year probationary period for a supervisory position unless the employee served in such a position before August 11, 1979, or has completed one.
The selectee will be required to file an OGE form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, in accordance with 5 CFR section 2634, subpart i.

Relocation expenses will not be paid. Travel expenses for temporary assignments will be paid as appropriate according to applicable travel rules and/or regulations.
