SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this occupation as stated below at the GS-07 and GS-08.
At the GS-07 level:
Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience includes examining, identifying and resolving issues required to correct case record deficiencies, note hearing activities, hearing issues and information for case files and perfect case files for closing.
At the GS-08 level:
Qualifying experience for GS-08 includes one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience includes initiating and composing standardized legal documents; accepting service of legal documents; reviewing form and annotating case files and status records; analyzing and reviewing exhibiting cases; adding materials to the administrative record; preparing final exhibit; and editing all case management system information to assure internal completeness and consistency with case management procedures.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
