The Bedford VAMC is uniquely positioned with a significant research program that is supported by approximately $8 million in VA research funding, and is highly aligned with the clinical mission of the hospital and the VA.

The VA Medical Center - Bedford is looking for a full-time Primary Care Physician (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine) to join the team in our Haverhill, Massachusetts community based outpatient clinic. In this role, you will discover what it's like to enjoy the professional and personal satisfaction of caring for veterans where you work with an RN and an LPN, along with administrative support staff in a team based approach and have access to mental health services and lab blood drawing; see approximately 10 patients per day in a 3 PCP clinic; no call (infrequently asked to cover as back up physician for hospital on off hours; attend staff and team meetings; ample time to complete patient related administrative work; work with group that is always thinking outside the box to improve the quality and efficiency of work and in which there is very little physician turnover. Duties will include:
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm
Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting (15-44 lbs); moderate carrying (15-44 lbs); straight pulling; pushing; reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (up to 4 hours); standing (up to 4 hours); kneeling (up to 2 hours); repeated bending (up to 2 hours), ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable at 20/50 and 20/100; hearing (aid permitted); emotional stability.
Preferred Experience: Preferred experience includes two or more years' experience in internal or family medicine, fellowship, board certification and an unrestricted license (any state).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
