We are seeking a Supervisory Program Specialist to serve as the Deputy Director of our NIH Executive Secretariat (ES) office. The mission of the ES supports the NIH Director's and Principal Deputy Director's responsiveness, decision-making, meeting participation, and official records.
The Executive Secretariat office manages, analyzes, and preserves information to and from the NIH Director and Principal Deputy Director. The ES office ensures that correspondence, emails, memoranda, other communications, and documents requiring clearance and approval are delivered efficiently and accurately. Serving as an honest broker in adjudicating differences in organizational perspectives, ES works to maintain integrity, accountability, confidentiality, transparency, and resiliency in all we do. ES ensures assignments from the Department of Health and Human Services are completed and fully vetted in an accurate and timely manner.

As the Deputy Director of the ES office, some of your key duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Examples of qualifying experience include: preparing background summaries, abstracts, and briefing papers for executives; overseeing electronic document management system; preparing official papers for executive level reviewers and signers; performing editorial review, re-writing documents; mentoring and leading junior staff members.
This position has supervisory/managerial responsibilities. A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period is required upon selection/placement. This may be waived if you have successfully completed the supervisory/managerial probationary period.
If selected, you will be required to complete Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE Form 450 to determine if a conflict or an appearance of a conflict exists between your financial interest and your prospective position with the agency. This information is required annually.
Additional selections may be made across the entire Department of Health and Human Services within the Washington, DC commuting area through this vacancy announcement.
