Provides security services to safeguard Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) assets by surveillance, observation and other investigative means in accordance with established policies, rules and regulations. Analyzes operations and work habits in MCCS activities and when appropriate, advises and assists activity managers in improving and enforcing security procedures. Ensures acts of shoplifting, forgery or other theft by patrons and employees are detected by observing sales floors, stockrooms, warehouse facilities, dressing rooms, loading docks, parking lots, sensormatic equipment or any other MCCS property requiring security checks. May oversee and conduct spot checks of employee and patron personal belongings. Observes and analyzes systems, physical layout and policies affecting loss prevention and safety of assets. May have key control responsibility. May attempt to detain suspects until arrival of proper authorities. Assumes responsibility of merchandise or cash until evidence is turned over to proper authorities. May conduct interviews. Investigates matters relating to security violations. Liaisons with appropriate authorities. Prepares reports pertaining to security incidents; gathers facts and evidence to present to law enforcement officials. Prepares case material or other required reports of theft and/or related incidents. May be required to appear and testify in court or at hearings concerning security cases. May conduct loss prevention training and presentations.
Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions completing performance reviews and signing timecards, training employees keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. Must be alert to alcohol abuse, and take appropriate action.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Develops and ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Conducts safety meetings at least quarterly. Advises employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents to the Human Resources Office. Ensures safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions, and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with “Return To Work” program initiatives, and following up on employee well being.
Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EVALUATIONS:
Three years experience that demonstrates work experience directly related to security and/or loss prevention responsibilities. Possess knowledge of investigative legal principals including; observation and description; search and seizures and rules of evidence. Be able to write comprehensive incident and observation reports and deliver intelligent testimony in civil and military courts. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in dealing with the public. Skill to supervise employees in accomplishment of work. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20lbs may be required.
