This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) with duties in the "Technician/Administrative Support" work category and at the Senior work level.

MAJOR DUTIES:
· Responsible for selecting the alpha, beta, and gamma measurement approach for the identified fission and activation products of interest to include determining priorities for the measurement of the samples.
· Records and documents all measurement activities and processes. Ensures that all chain-of-custody documentation requirements are met.
· Responsible for ensuring daily calibrations are performed on the alpha, beta, and gamma measurement equipment using known standards.
· Works with the branch chief/team leader and health physicist to ensure all required health safety training and ongoing training updates are accomplished and records are maintained.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS. This position is in the Excepted Service.
DoD Components with DCIPS positions apply Veterans' Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 USC, in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Position is designated critical-sensitive and incumbent requires a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
2. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
3. The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
4. Employee may be required to under random CI polygraph examination in accordance with security regulations involving material handled.
5. Shift work may be required.
6. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field (such as chemistry, nuclear engineering, physics, etc) is desired.
7. Direct experience working in an analytical laboratory is desired.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: knowledge of nuclear measurement principles, specifically alpha, beta, and gamma nuclear measurement techniques, processes, procedures, and equipment with a skill in data processing techniques and statistical interpretation of data results.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of alpha, beta, and gamma measurement equipment and the principles, techniques, processes, procedures associated with the use of that equipment to include radioactive decay schemes, and radiation detection systems.
2. Knowledge of radiochemistry, separation and purification techniques, analytical chemical techniques tracer and carrier techniques, and instrumental chemical techniques.
3. Knowledge of mathematical statistical methods for reduction and comparison of measurement data.
4. Skill in rapidly applying knowledge in a variety of situations to a variety of sample measurements in order to meet critical deadlines.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
