DON Direct Hire Authority for Recent Graduates Program
The selectee for this position will serve as a Human Resources Specialist in the Department of Navy, Office of Civilian Human Resources of DON DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OFFICE.
This announcement is being used to recruit qualified individuals under the Department of Defense (DoD) Direct Hire Authority, authorized by Section 1106 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017. This authority allows the Secretary of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified Post-Secondary Students and Recent Graduates directly to positions in the competitive service for Professional and Administrative occupations within the Department of Defense (DoD). Competitive rating and ranking of applicants do not apply to the Direct Hire process.

This is a Human Resources (HR) Specialist position serving as a member of the Department of Navy's (DON) Civilian Human Resources Community, which is responsible for effectively developing and delivering personnel management policies, systems, guidance and programs to enable the DON to inspire, develop, and compensate its civilian workforce.
Individuals selected will be in the Department of Navy's formalized HR Intern Program, which is a two year developmental training program strategically designed to produce well-rounded HR specialist by coupling functional training, leadership training and external rotations in multiple HR disciplines. Within the two year Program participants are required to attend the following:
* Formalized Orientation (usually lasting 3-5 days)
* 6+ Basic HR Functional Training Courses (each usually lasting 5-6 days)
* 1-2 Advanced HR Functional Training Courses (each usually lasting 5-6 days)
* 4+ Leadership Training Courses (each usually lasting 5-6 days)
* Mid-Program Training (usually lasting 3-5 days)
* One, 6 month External Rotation (may or may not be in the local area)
* One, 1-4 month External Rotation (may or may not be in the local area)
* Formalized Graduation
Trainings and/or rotations will require extended travel away from the assigned duty station.
The salary stated above covers various locations across the U.S. Actual salary will vary depending on the duty location of the position filled.

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
