The John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical center, Detroit, Michigan, has an immediate opening for a Full-Time, preferably Board Certified/Board Eligible Pulmonary and Critical Care staff physician. Qualifications include competency in all Pulmonary & ICU procedures including airway management and certification in ACLS and BLS. Responsibilities include management of ICU patients, care of pulmonary patients in the Detroit VAMC inpatient and outpatient settings, and oversight of respiratory services and supplemental oxygen therapy.
The Detroit VAMC has a strong affiliation with Wayne State University (WSU) and the WSU Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellows are an integral part of the pulmonary and ICU team in the Detroit VA. The Candidate will have fellow teaching responsibilities and will need to show academic interest and potential.

Physical Requirements:
Heavy lifting and carrying (45+ lbs.); As needed - Straight pulling, pulling handover hand, pushing and reaching above shoulders, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, repeated bending, climbing using both legs and arms; use of fingers and both hands required; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13'-16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; depth perception; ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing (aid permitted); working closely with others; working alone; protracted or irregular hours of work
Preferred Experience: Preferred Board Certified in Internal Medicine (MD or DO) and Board Eligible or Certified in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine; Residency/Fellowship - completion of an accredited residency/fellowship in Internal Medicine is necessary to qualify for an academic appointment at affiliate Wayne State University.
