About the Position: Barquist Army Health Clinic is located on Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD. Fort Detrick is the third largest employer in Frederick County and is approximately 1 hour drive from Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD easily accessible by major interstate highways. The environment for this position is a small outpatient primary care healthcare facility where the individual will be providing medical support services to active duty military, their families and retirees.

Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as performing laboratory testing in the following areas: (1) Experience assisting in the evaluation of work practices for hazardous condition and safety of workers; (2) Experience assisting with work-site sampling of atmospheric contaminants; (3) Experience assisting with calibration of sampling instruments and equipment.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene Procedures, Concepts, Principles and Practices to Evaluate Work Processes.
2. Knowledge of Surveying and Sampling.
3. Skill in Using Computer Software.
4. Ability to Communicate Verbally.

Education Substitution: Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. Successful completion of half a year of graduate education or 9 semester hours of graduate education where it was directly related to the work of the position meets the requirements for GS-6. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).

Combination of Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education (as indicated above) and specialized experience (as indicated above), are also qualifying. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification)
