The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulates all aspects of civil aviation. These include the construction and operation of airports, the management of air traffic, the certification of personnel and aircraft, and the protection of US assets during the launch or reentry of commercial space vehicles.
The FAA has nine (9) Regional Offices (ROs) in the continental United States, (Anchorage, AK, Kansas City, MO, Jamaica, NY, Des Plaines, IL, Burlington, MA, Renton, WA, College Park, GA, Los Angeles, CA, Fort Worth, TX) that provide a capable, local presence necessary for the Agency to achieve its objectives and meet the constant challenges of serving the flying public.
As the senior agency official in the region, the role of the Regional Administrator (RA) is to optimize cross-functional integration, operational effectiveness, cost efficiencies, and increased customer service.
The Regional Administrator (RA) is the FAA Administrator’s primary representative to congressional, state and local officials, aviation industry, educational institutions, civic organizations and other Federal agencies, and spokesperson for the Agency within their geographic area of responsibility.
The RA works with these stakeholders to share FAA policy, strategies and plans around FAA initiatives and resolve issues. Current FAA initiatives for which RAs are heavily engaged include: Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) which over the next several years will modernize our National Airspace System (NAS) with a series of upgrades and improvements that will transform air traffic operations using better systems, procedures, technologies and policies; Metroplexes – geographic areas encompassing one or more large airports that operate in complex air traffic environments. The Metroplex effort is focused on optimizing airspace and procedures, reducing noise, decreasing emissions and keeping planes moving through the NAS. The RA engages in outreach activities to explain and engage a myriad of environmental impacts and noise management issues to stakeholders and local communities; airport improvements and Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) implementation.
The Regional Administrator is a visible model of leadership, managerial excellence, and integrity and:
Regional Administrators in Renton, WA, Fort Worth TX, and College Park, GA have the added responsibility of providing leadership for operations centers in the region. These operations centers track and disseminate information related to FAA operational events and emergencies that impact the agency and employees.
We are not accepting applications from noncitizens.

Effective, transformational leadership is key to the success in this position. We are seeking candidates who understand both the Headquarters and field operations, with the intent of growing their experience and preparing them for other opportunities within the FAA.
