As a Police Officer, GS-0083-06, you
will be responsible to enforce law, maintain law and order, preserve the peace,
and protect life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of the military
installation. You will also:
-Have power of apprehension and detention which entails carrying a firearm,
mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence and testifying in court as it
pertains to enforcing regulations on a military installation.
-Serve as a Security Forces Dispatcher for the installation. Dispatch police
units to scenes of crimes, accidents and natural disasters.
-Perform the full range of Base Entry Controller duties, ensuring individuals
requesting access to the installation have the proper identification
credentials before entering.
-Perform the full range of duties for defending protection level resources.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance as a condition of employment.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as running in pursuits or emergency responses, long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and similar activities. Employees engage in such exertions when responding to alarms and walking foot patrols in and around large buildings. This position may require common physical characteristics and abilities and dexterity and the strength to pursue, and detain uncooperative suspects. In addition, this position requires the ability to employ " infantry" small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to employ "Active Shooter" response tactics as a member of a small team.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in settings in which there is regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness, such as high levels of noise in industrial settings and from aircraft engines and weapons fire, high temperatures in confined spaces, or adverse weather conditions during extended periods of traffic, gate and patrol duties, The employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields. The work also involves moderate risk and discomfort when working outdoors without shelter or operating vehicles for extended periods of time.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this job that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform. Typically we would find this experience in work within this field or a field that is closely related. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression, (GS-05). Examples of specialized experience include experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer
work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and
other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual;
community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies,
knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that
translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all
qualifying experience, including volunteer experience, but you must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each
position held and the total number of hours per week.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your
qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge,

perform the full range of police officer activities independently.
2. Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for

regarding the appropriate use of force to be used in the apprehension of
