He/she will provide primary care services to veterans at the Castle Point campus or at the New City Primary Care Clinic, Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The candidate must be qualified to provide Women's Health services in addition to comprehensive care to a panel of adult patients, from young adult to elderly. The physician will work in the VAs Medical Home model, called the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), whereby patient-centered care with foci on improved access and care management of the veteran are major pillars of healthcare delivery. The physician will provide care to optimize patient health, work seamlessly with other health care team members and support VA patient satisfaction initiatives.
The selected physician will contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, write orders for diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, consult with primary care and specialty providers and utilize computerized/electronic medical records. The physician will provide patient care in accordance with professional standards, core values and commitment to service excellence. Must possess a current; full and unrestricted state medical license; prefer Board Certified or eligible in Primary Care/Family Practice; proficient in the English language and must be skilled in the use of computerized systems related to patient care.
Physicians are covered under the Tort Claims Protection Act.
Salary: Applicant's education and experience will be reviewed by a Professional Standards Board and Compensation Panel in determining salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.
Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: A pre-placement physical examination will be completed prior to appointment to determine the physical and mental fitness of candidates. The examination will be concerned with the mental and physical ability of the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the proposed assignment and will include requisite laboratory and other screening as required by Federal regulatory agencies. Applicants must have the mental and physical ability to perform core privileges required by the specialty position in addition to any specialty privileges requested.
NOTE: Selectee may be
required to work at any VA Hudson Valley Health Care System campus or CBOCs, as
needed.

In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:
Basic Requirements:
Citizenship: Citizen of the United States
Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or of doctor of osteopathy from a college or university approved by the Secretary
Residency: Completed a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
Licensure: A current, full, active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English is required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
Drug Testing: After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
Background Check: You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
Physical: Applicants for this position must pass a pre-employment medical examination.

2. Board eligible or certification in Internal Medicine/Primary Care/Family Practice.
