Perform a variety of manual labor tasks incidental
to trade, craftwork, janitorial, warehousing, or power house activities
requiring application of knowledge and experience gained on previous
similar assignments. Work involves one or a combination of the following
tasks:
1. Trades: Assist skilled trades or crafts employees by
fetching tools, materials and equipment; hold, move, rearrange, lift,
carry and stack items and objects; clean tools, equipment and work
areas.
2. Facilities: Dig and grade ditches and trenches with pick
and shovel; fill and level holes in damaged roadways, mixing materials
and leveling surface of patch with tamper; set forms, mix and pour
concrete; operate power lawn mower (walking and riding type), adjusting
mechanisms, oiling and cleaning. May occasionally operate jackhammer or
power tools. Operate vehicles as required, such as one-half or three
quarter ton pickup, snow plow (seasonally), and 21 foot boat. Typical duties include pulling weeds and killing weeds, cleaning the roadway, walks and drains.
Work with mechanics in performing such duties as cleaning equipment in preparation for painting,
wiping oil and grease, removing machinery parts during repairs, carrying
heavy timbers, pipe, and miscellaneous materials. Clean dirt, grease, grime, etc., from various pieces of
equipment. Spot paint equipment, as necessary.
3.
Warehousing: Load and unload trucks, box cars, and other conveyances;
move, pack, unpack, sort, segregate, arrange, stack, pile, or relocate a
large variety of supply items.
4. Janitorial: Perform
duties, to include, sweeping and mopping floors in and around lathes,
drill presses, welding equipment, etc. wiping grease and oil from
machinery, removing and disposing of metal shavings, saw dust, and
grinding debris from machinery, disposing of trash, and cleaning and
storing hand tools in proper location. Replace burnt out light bulbs
throughout the power plant.

PATHWAYS INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 17 years of age to operate a motor vehicle on public roadways in accordance with 29 USC 213(c)(6).
Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Must be enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment in an accredited school.
Must be taking at least half-time course load.
Must be in an accepted or enrolled student status while in the Pathways Program. Proof of enrollment must be submitted with application package.
Screen Out Element: Must have the potential to perform standard maintenance procedures such as trimming trees and grass. Failure to meet this screen-out element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: This position exerts heavy physical effort in lifting and moving objects weighing up to and over 50 pounds. Bending, reaching, working in cramped areas, climbing ladders, repeated hand and arm movements, etc. are required to accomplish the work.
Working Conditions: Works around water, with majority of work being performed outside in all kinds of weather. Work is by nature dirty, dusty and may require working around or with noisy equipment. Work around tools and equipment requires care and attention to safety practices prescribed, in order to avoid injury to self or others and/or damage to equipment. NOTE: Employees are required to observe established safe working procedures. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions, and its use is mandatory.
