The VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System(EKHCS) is a tertiary care health system providing Urgent Care, Inpatient and Outpatient Care, Research, Domiciliary Care, Nursing HomeCare, and Geriatric Care to a 45-county primary service area which spans throughout Northeastern and Central Kansas and Missouri. EKHCS consists of two divisions:the Colmery-O'Neil Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas, and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center, located in Leavenworth, Kansas, as well as multiple Community Based Outpatient Clinics across the service area.
This position is located at the Leavenworth Campus of the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System. The Assistant Chief, MHRRTP assists/supports the Chief, MHRRTP in the management of 150 beds in a combined Domiciliary Care facility. This position is also responsible for providing guidance in residential rehabilitative care to Veteran patients who have a wide range of mental health and substance abuse illnesses and rehabilitation care needs. The facility is designed and functions as a Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP), providing treatment tracks for depression, dual diagnosis, and substance abuse.

Functional Statement: Assistant Chief, Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP) Nurse
Physical Requirements: Light lifting (under 15 pounds), straight pulling, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, walking, standing, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, specific visual requirement, hearing (aid permitted), emotional and mental stability, ability to read written material, and working closely with others.
Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Preferred Experience: Experience managing quality of care and clinical performance. Significant experience in program development and management. Demonstrated track record of success in managing a mental health program, experience supervising clinical, allied, and support staff.
