About the Position:
This position is with the Army Wounded Warrior Program Advocate/Recovery Care Coordinator (RCC)/Lead Coordinator (LC), Army's Wounded Warrior Program (AW2), headquartered in Arlington, VA. AW2 provides the Army's severely injured and ill Soldiers and their Families with a system of advocacy and follow on support designed to assist the Soldier as he/she transitions back into military service or into the civilian community. AW2 incorporates and integrates several existing programs to provide holistic support services for severely injured or ill Soldiers and their Families throughout their phased progression from initial casualty notification to return to their home.

Incumbent applies a collaborative team approach to assess, plan, implement, coordinate, and monitor, inpatients and/or outpatients.
Responsible for insuring thorough facilitation, negotiation, procurement, advocacy, communication, and empowerment, quality care, appropriate costing, and involvement necessary for the achievement of mutually developed goals.
Delivers compassionate, tailored and personal support and guidance.
Ensures essential activities are provided throughout the continuum of injury providing support and advice during medical treatment, rehabilitation and transition back into the Army or the civilian community.
Assists Soldiers/Veterans and their Families/caregivers to navigate Federal, State, Local and private benefit systems; link them with selected financial, educational, employment, legal and medical resources.
Insures the need of Soldier/Veteran and their Family/Caregiver is the primary consideration when making any informed decisions.
Negotiates and advocates effectively for most comprehensive, cost-effective placement or services, scarce resources, or those not covered by benefit reimbursement.

Experience required: Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Typical examples of such work experience include (but are not limited to) experience with resources and services for wounded, ill, injured Soldiers/Veterans and their Families/Caregivers; monitoring the implementation of multiple administrative and medical/clinical standards and procedures; meet the social and cultural needs of Soldiers/Veterans and their Families/Caregivers.
These examples are typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11.

Behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
