About the Position:
Duty location: You will be working in the US Army Research Institute (ARI) located at Ft. Belvoir, VA. Ft. Belvoir - PBS (ASAALT) (GS-14) - The Programs, Budget, and Strategy Office (PBS) is responsible for the planning, programming, and budget execution operations for the U.S. Army Research Institute (ARI). In order to successfully execute the organizations scientific program, PBS interacts with the Deputy Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, G-1 and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Research and Technology (DASA R&T) to plan requirements and to promote research products. This position serves as Liaison Officer to DASA R&T and is responsible for strategic advice to ARI leadership based on an understanding of DASA R&T intent and priorities. Position also interacts with other Army laboratories, other service laboratories, and Department of Defense leadership to develop and to coordinate science and technology activities and initiatives.
Management would prefer experience in behavioral science research (e.g., industrial/organizational psychology, psychometrics, personnel testing, cognitive psychology, social psychology, experimental psychology, or closely related behavioral research science) including planning, designing, and managing research programs involving managing a research team and interpreting research findings.
U.S. Army Research Institute's (ARI) Science and Technology (S&T) research is focused on developing innovative measures and methods to improve and enhance the Soldier lifecycle and human capital management that encompasses a wide range of topics (e.g., personnel, training, leader development, human resources, human relations) at the individual, unit, and organizational level by conducting scientific research and providing behavioral and social science expertise needed to inform human resource policies and strategies, develop fundamental theories, and investigate new domain areas in behavioral and social sciences with high potential impact on Army issues.

Basic Requirement for a Research Psychologist:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with a major or equivalent in psychology.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized experience is defined as: experience in behavioral science research that encompasses a wide range of topics (e.g., personnel, training, leader development, human resources, and/or human relations), including experience planning, designing, and/or managing research projects, interpreting research results, and/or providing guidance/leadership to research scientist. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
