The incumbent’s responsibility, first and foremost, is to lead by example, to shape and sustain a working environment most conducive to the successful performance of those entrusted to his/her leadership and direction; creating a positive atmosphere and culture within the Marine & Family Programs Division and its constituent branches that reflects the pride, professionalism, sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, collaborative engagement, well-being, and wholehearted customer focus of its employees is the incumbent’s essential purpose and focus of main effort.
Provides crisis intervention and comprehensive case management services in support of ensuring clients receive timely, efficient, and effective clinical services in the areas of general mental health and domestic violence. Keeps all parties with a “need to know” informed of progress with respect to the various clinical services offered by the Community Counseling Center.
Crisis Intervention: Provides crisis intervention to clients in the areas of general mental health and domestic violence. Crisis intervention may include assessing and evaluating immediate needs; defusing anger, tension, and anxiety; mediation; conflict resolution; and short-term counseling.
Case Management: Provides case management services for the Community Counseling Center to ensure general mental health and Family Advocacy Program (FAP) rehabilitation services are provided in a timely, efficient, and effective manner. Schedules client appointments and monitors to ensure attendance, both with clinical provider appointments, and various other rehabilitative treatment assignments (e.g., group therapy and education classes). Ensures follow-up services for clients are provided. Maintains up-to-date, accurate and complete records for all clients. Briefs and updates clients and Commands regarding case status, FAP Incident Determination Committee (IDC) findings, and periodic case reviews. Monitors for quality assurance with respect to agency service delivery and records management. Communicates regularly with various Commands’ FAP Officers regarding client case status and FAP recommendations to the Command. Conveys to Commands’ the request for the issuance of a Military Protective Order (MPO) to ensure safety, as may be warranted per clinical assessment and evaluation in particular instances. Serves as Command liaison in transferring or receiving active or closed FAP cases between Commands’ due to permanent change of station (PCS) orders of service members.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EVALUATIONS:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in human services or related field leading to a bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university is required, and four years experience in human services, social sciences, or related field, with four years of specialized experience in case management. Ability to use a computer and various software. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successfully complete a criminal history background check. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.
